Six of the most astute hedge fund managers got together earlier this week for a secret poker tournament that was played on behalf of an unnamed charity.
"Poker Night on Wall Street" was held at the Borgata in Atlantic City and was hosted by Bloomberg TV. Business Insider reports that each player paid an entry fee of $50,000, a mere pittance for the participating investment experts, with the entire prize pool earmarked for charitable causes.
John Rogers (Ariel Investments), David Einhorn (Greenlight Capital), Jim Chanos (Kynikos Associates), Bill Perkins (Skylar Capital), Steve Kuhn (Pine River Investments), and Mario Gabelli (Gabelli Asset Management) were the game's players. There may have been some bad blood between at least two of the players, as Perkins was responsible for knocking out Einhorn from a recent WSOP event in Las Vegas last month.
For those players and fans who would have liked to be a fly on the wall at the game in order to perhaps pick up some investment strategies, your wish has been granted. Bloomberg TV will broadcast the event in August.
