Operating in the US state of Nevada, the company was granted an online gaming licence on the condition that it would first go under a 90-day field trial. The point of that trial was for the state to evaluate whether the company met its regulations on online gaming.

Well, those 90 days are now up and Ultimate Gaming passed the trial with flying colours, as shown by the fact that Nevada’s Gaming Commission has given it final approval to operate its Ultimate Poker service.

All five members of the commission voted in favour of giving final approval to the company, a sign that it has had a great three months in Nevada’s online gaming market. Ultimate Gaming remains the only online poker company to legally operate in Nevada and the US, even though a number of other companies have announced intentions to follow suit.

Ultimate Gaming Chief Executive Officer Tobin Prior expressed his elation at the Nevada Gaming Commission’s decision to give his company final approval, saying that it was a historic moment for Ultimate Gaming.

“Not only was Ultimate Gaming the first company in field trial and the first to launch live play, but today we became the first to receive final approval from the Nevada Gaming Control Board,” he said. “The board set extensive regulatory requirements for online poker in the state, and we are thrilled that our product has met and exceeded these standards.”

Over nine million hands have been dealt on the Ultimate Poker since in first launched at the end of April. That will continue rising steadily for the foreseeable future as it remains the sole regulated online poker service to operate in Nevada.

According to PokerScout, Ultimate Gaming has a seven day average of 182 players, which is a decent showing in a state which has just under 2.8 million people.
